The owner’s manual says this will provide the best sound, and I agree. I got it due to the good reviews (close to five stars). You should probably use a coaxial cable to connect to your receiver if your receiver or amplifier has a digital port to connect it to. However, if you have a lot of CD’s from those years when CD’s were popular this is probably a good choice. It has a nice clear sound, although CD’s do have a mechanical sound due to their digital nature. With reasonable care vinyl records will last a lifetime, or more. Now that I have revealed my bias for vinyl, I should add that this is a nice CD changer. Certainly better than Cassette tapes, but no match for vinyl.

CD’s do need to be in pretty good shape to avoid skipping.Unfortunately, the CD format is not as fool proof as we were told, when it originally came on the market. Particularly, since cleaning the questionable CD’s has corrected the problem. To be fair, the Onkyo, also, seems to skip, if the CD is not in the best shape, although I do not fault the Onkyo for this. Our old Pioneer CD changer was always skipping, no matter which CD we chose to play.

The result-a noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source. Data is converted between the sampling points and these discrete sampling points are joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. Previously only available on Onkyo’s high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. The result is a noise-free digital audio signal that is less susceptible to flux.Ĭonventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Unlike other CD players that use PC-board copper traces to transfer the digital audio signal, the DX-C390 employs a high-purity, heavy-gauge, shielded cable to directly output the digital bitstream straight from the disc to the back panel.
